I have the same O/S and MacFlac and never had a problem at all. The only thing i can suggest is d/l macflac again the version I have is 2.0.1

Thanks. Do you have OSX.2? 10.1.2, so have to load something called 'binary codes' which doesn't seem to work. guess I'll have to get "Jaquer" updgrade

You might want to try the new 'xACT' tool that Scott Brown wrote. It automatically installs all the binaries for you, though I admit I've never tried it on 10.1.x. Have a look for it over on wiki.etree.org. Hope this helps!

got the 'xACT' tool from wiki.etree.org.
can now convert flac to wav from my Mac 10.1
